Employer-sponsored visas

You may be eligible for immediate permanent residence under the direct entry stream of the 186 employer-sponsored visa if you:

Are under 45 years old (exemptions available)
Can read, write and speak English at least to IETLS 6 level (exemptions available)
Have a degree or diploma or three year’s full-time employment experience
Have an employer to sponsor your visa
Have a positive skill assessment on the skilled occupation list

You may be eligible for immediate permanent residence under a 186 employer-sponsored visa (transitional residence stream) if you:

Are under 45 years old (exemptions available)
Can read, write and speak English at least to IETLS 6 level (exemptions available)
Have worked on a 457 or 482 temporary employer-sponsored visa with the same employer for three years
Your employer agrees to employ you on in the same position for three years

You may be eligible for the 482 temporary employer-sponsored visa if you:

Can read, write and speak English at the IETLS 5 overall level (exemptions available)
Have a certificate, diploma and/or degree or three year’s full-time employment experience
Your occupation is on the 482 occupation list
Have an employer to sponsor your visa

You may be eligible for the 494 regional temporary employer-sponsored visa if you:

Can read, write and speak English at the IETLS 6 (exemptions available)
Are under 45 years old (exemptions available)
Hold a certificate, diploma or degree or have three year’s full-time employment experience
Have an employer in regional Australia (Gold Coast is regional) to sponsor your visa
Have a positive skill assessment in an occupation on the 494 occupation list (exemptions available)

The 494 visa leads to permanent residence after three years through the 191 visa as long as you live, work and study in a regional area and earn at least $53,900 taxable income each year.
